Narita Narita

Yes, you heard correctly. We're in JAPAN! We've got about a 4 hour layover so thought we better enter some stuff. So a 5+10+7 hour flight is alot longer than it looks on paper. I've done all the crosswords I brought, plus one from Bob the dentist who we met on the plane.

But first thing's first. After meeting a bunch of people downtown Toronto, we found our way to the airport and after declaring ourselves kings of terminal 1, tried to catch some shut eye. Bad idea. Every 15 minutes the floor cleaner would come by, so while Dustin slept a bit, I didn't catch a wink. Bottom line is that we haven't slept in 2 days, and there's still a long ways to go until we check in.

As you can imagine, no sleep, free beer on the plane, and never really knowing which time zone we're in or even what day it is makes Dustin and Taylor a little confused. Oh ya. Internet explorer is totally in Japanese which means I'm relying on Dustin's memory of which buttons mean 'Start a new post' on our blog.

So I've never seen so much strange food in my life. Alot of their menu's are really plastic models of the food that they serve, which I think is pretty effective. Met our new friend Christophe, from Kitchener believe it or not, going to the same place we are. We're not the only one's who thought this would be a good idea.

So bad news Daddy-o. The GPS doesn't like airports at all, I'm not sure why. Could be a question of just 'too much stuff' floating around the airwaves. Hopefully we'll get it back into commission in Thailand. Can't really post too much more since its 100 Yen for 10 minutes of internet so who knows when it'll crap out on us.

We'll add pictures when we get to Bangkok. Until then.

Hello Gord, Dustin, & Taylor,

It sounds like the GPS is not locating satellites due to either the airport or the new location on Earth. To correct the satellite acquisition problem that you are experiencing I would suggest doing an auto-locate, or new location, on your unit to reacquire the satellite information. This will tell the GPS to forget where it *thinks* satellites are orbiting above Earth and start from *scratch*. Typically, this needs to be initiated when the GPS has traveled long distances un-powered.

Following are instructions on how to perform an auto-locate on your unit:

1. Navigate to the SATELLITE page.
2. Select the MENU icon and press ENTER.
3. Select NEW LOCATION and press ENTER.
4. Select AUTOMATIC and press ENTER.

After the auto-locate please place your unit outside so that it has a clear view of the sky for 25 to 30 minutes so that the unit can acquire new satellite almanac data.
